How are we Funded

Fountain for youth is a non-profit charitable organisation. We raise funds through public events, private donations, bequests, corporate partnerships and grant funding.

Donations can be made directly online, by going to Donations and following the prompts or you can [download a form] and post/fax to our office.

Grants

The Australian Government has supported the Literacy Empowerment Project created by Ian Thorpe’s Fountain for youth since 2005.

Under the Government of Prime Minister John Howard, the Federal Minister for Education, Dr Brendan Nelson announced a grant of $1million over three years (2005-2007).

When Kevin Rudd became Prime Minister in November 2007 his Government extended support for the Literacy Empowerment Project with a grant of $1 million (2009-2011).  Under the Government of Prime Minister Julia Gillard a third grant of $1.3 million (2011-2012) was approved.

Major Supporter

Supporter Australian Unity Foundation is proudly supporting Ian Thorpe’s Fountain for youth, assisting in closing the space between the home and the school by supporting the Literacy Backpack Program. Fountain for youth was a successful applicant to a 12 month grant for the provisioning of resources for students in the remote community school.
